DecisionPoint Designer

Q: What data sources does DecisionPoint™ Designer support?

A: DecisionPoint™ Designer supports Excel® (both .xls and .xlsx formats), comma-separated (CSV) and delimited files, and Salesforce® data sources.
If you want to connect to other corporate data sources (e.g. your organization's databases), you should check out DecisionPoint™ Server.

Q: Does it work with my version of Excel®?

A: Yes, DecisionPoint™ supports Excel® versions back to 1997 and works with both .xls and .xlsx files.

Q: How many people can I share a dashboard with?

A: You can share your dashboard with as many people as you like — we impose no limits. Should you need to share your dashboard with larger communities of 100s or 1000s of users then adding DecisionPoint™ Server provides extra enterprise capabilities to simplify this task. DecisionPoint™ Server also enables you to work with very large data sets and provides more ways to refresh your dashboard data

Q: What devices can dashboards be viewed on?

A: Dashboards created with DecisionPoint™ Designer can be viewed using any modern desktop browser and on the iPad and Android tablet devices.

Q: Is my data safe?

A: With DecisionPoint™ Designer you install the software onto your machine and the data stays in your system throughout the process. When you are ready to share your dashboard you either send it directly from your own email address or save it to a file server, meaning you are in control over who sees the data.
Note: Your data is never uploaded to Antivia's servers.

Q: Where is my data stored when I share a dashboard?

A: When you want to share a dashboard, DecisionPoint™ Designer saves it as an HTML file. This file contains your original block of Excel®, CSV or Salesforce® data in a highly compressed format and a description of the layout of your dashboard. When a user accesses this dashboard from their web browser or the DecisionPoint™ Viewer App on their mobile device, the theme, which contains the look and feel of the dashboard, and the scripts that handle all of the processing required to make the dashboard interactive are downloaded from Antivia's cloud servers.
Note: The data associated with your dashboard always remains on the user's device. Your data is never uploaded to Antivia's servers

Q: What are the largest data volumes can I work with in DecisionPoint™ Designer?

A: Maximum data volumes vary and depend on the numbers of rows and number of columns in your spreadsheet and the complexity of the calculations you're performing in your dashboard. In addition to this, since the dashboard is processed locally on the user's device, it follows that viewing dashboards in a browser on a desktop PC will support larger data volumes than on mobile devices, which are generally less powerful. However, a dashboard that has less than 10,000 rows of data should usually perform well across all devices. In fact, some customers have created dashboards with 50,000 rows or more of data which still perform well. But, naturally, as your data volumes increase you'll start to see a performance degradation, so as a rule of thumb we recommend keeping to under 10,000 rows of data. If you need to work with larger data volumes then you should take a look at DecisionPoint™ Server which is designed for just this purpose.

Q: Can I refresh the data in my dashboards?

A: Yes. If the data in your Excel® spreadsheet, CSV file or Salesforce® changes, simply press the refresh button in the DecisionPoint™ Designer to update your dashboard. You can then share the updated dashboard with your users.

Q: Do I need to provide my credit card details when I download the trial?

A: No, the 15-day trial is completely free and doesn't require you to provide us with any credit card details.

Q: What is the cost of DecisionPoint™ Designer?

A: Check out the pricing options on this site.

Q: How much does support cost with the buy outright option?

A: Support and updates are included for the first 12 months if you choose to buy DecisionPoint™ Designer outright. In subsequent years, support and updates are available for $750 per year. If you choose to buy a subscription, support and updates are always included.

Q: What happens if I don't renew my annual subscription?

A: As with every subscription, when it expires the service stops working. If you choose not to renew your DecisionPoint® Designer subscription, your existing dashboards will stop working and you will no longer be able to create or publish new dashboards. We will contact you around one month before your susbcription expires with details of your renewal.

Q: What if I want to connect to other data sources, too?

A: If you want to connect to other corporate data sources (e.g. your organization's databases), you should check out DecisionPoint™ Server.

Q: How long will it take me to get up to speed with DecisionPoint™ Designer?

A: If you are comfortable using Excel® or PowerPoint® you will have no difficulty switching to using DecisionPoint™, which has been designed with simplicity in mind, so you can create dashboards quickly and easily without writing any code. What's more, we provide a number of easy to follow tutorials that will have you up and running and creating your own dashboards in next to no time!

Q: Can't I just create dashboards in Excel®?

A: Depends what you mean by a dashboard! If you had unlimited time, resources and patience then, yes, you could create basic, old-style dashboards in Excel®. However, Excel® was never designed as a dashboard tool so you are entering a world of pain — a world of monster spreadsheets full of complex, interrelated formulas that are a nightmare to maintain, a world of broken macros and missing links. If this sounds familiar and if you are looking for a way to save time, money and your sanity when creating dashboards then find out why DecisionPoint™ is right for you.

Q: Can't I just use the standard Salesforce® reports and dashboards?

A: Out of the box, Salesforce® offers basic, tabular reports and static dashboards. Both lack interactivity, restrict you to reporting across 2-3 entities and don't allow you to create the KPIs and measures that matter to your business. To get the most from your investment in Salesforce, you need a more flexible, agile and interactive way to visualize your data. Find out how DecisionPoint™ provides the capabilities you need.

Q: What if I can't use the online installer?

A: We provide an offline installer for you which you can download here.

Q: Can you help me create my first dashboard?

A: Whether you are looking for skills transfer and guidance to help you deliver your first dashboard or if you want us to take on more of the dashboard development work for you, we can tailor a Quick Start program that is right for you, contact us to discuss your needs.

Q: If I am creating dashboards using another company's data, do I need an additional license?

A: If you are creating dashboards for other companies' using their data then you need an additional DecisionPoint™ Designer license for each company who you are working with. Licenses of DecisionPoint™ Designer can be purchased here.
DecisionPoint Server

Q: Does it work with my data?

A: DecisionPoint Enterprise works seamlessly with any corporate data source including SQL databases, OLAP data cubes, Cloud data, SAP BusinessObjects content and Microsoft Excel® data.

Q: What devices can dashboards be viewed on?

A: Dashboards created with DecisionPoint Server can be embedded in websites and portals, viewed in a web browser on desktop or mobile or using the native iPad and Android apps.

Q: Can I refresh the data in my dashboard?

A: Yes. You can refresh you dashboard on-demand or you can schedule a refresh of your data on a periodical basis.

Q: Can I use more than one data set in my dashboard?

A: Yes. DecisionPoint Server lets you add multiple data sets to the same dashboard allowing you to work with all your data. You can also join multiple datasets on the DecisionPoint Server to provide a consolidated view of your business.

Q: Can my users access their dashboards when they are offline?

A: Yes. Offline access to BI content with full interactive capabilities is supported through the native mobile applications on iPad and Android tablet devices.

Q: How does DecisionPoint Server handle very large data volumes?

A: To balance great response times with the ability to work with large data volumes, DecisionPoint Server uses an Advanced Cooperative Processing (ACP) engine which pushes as much data storage and processing as possible down to the client device. For regular data volumes, the entire results set can be downloaded to the client, which means everything happens locally and business users enjoy blisteringly fast response times. With larger data volumes, drilling and filtering can be delegated to the server. As a business user drills through their data, DecisionPoint fetches additional subsets of data from where it is cached on the server to ensure they always see the right information at the right level of detail.

Q: How do I apply our corporate brand to our dashboards?

A: With out-of-the-box themes you can change the look and feel of your dashboards to fit your business. If you want to apply your own corporate brand to your dashboards you can create your own custom theme, or we can create one for you. Themes are based on industry standard CSS3.

Q: How does DecisionPoint help me design for multiple devices?

A: With DecisionPoint you use its unique patent-pending LivePreview to save time by seeing a live interactive version of your dashboard on each of your target devices as you design. This way you can be sure your dashboard looks as great on a desktop browser as it does on an iPad, and you never have to endure the time-consuming design-publish-preview-loop again. It really couldn't be easier!

Q: Does DecisionPoint integrate with our existing security systems?

A: Yes, DecisionPoint Server can delegate authentication to your existing security systems, including LDAP, Active Directory and even SAP BusinessObjects.

Q: What platforms are supported for the DecisionPoint Designer?

Note: Internet Explorer 9 or above is a pre-requisite for the Designer (other browsers are supported for desktop dashboard viewing).

A: To try DecisionPoint Enterprise, request a POC and we'll get right back to you to schedule a one-to-one demonstration and set up a POC against your corporate data within a couple of days.
